HMSV3996: Community and Health Leadership Applied Research Project
HMSV3996
The Health and Human Services Management Post-Diploma Certificate program builds upon the student’s expertise from their health or human services diploma or degree and prepares them for leadership roles within an organization. Students from this program take business courses along with discipline-specific electives in preparation for leading and managing in the complex landscape of the helping professions. Our Applied Research Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Project bridges the gap between academic inquiry and real-world application with an applied research project. This allows you the opportunity to connect with students who can work with you in a project to suit your organization’s needs. Highlights: We will work with you to help identify suitable projects. Under supervision of a faculty member, students present a viable, evidence-based, practical response to an identified organizational need. Students work in small groups to conduct research, complete the research project work, and present their work and/or recommendations to you and/or your organization. Students divide their time between course curriculum and the applied research project for a total of 45 hours (3 hours/week for 15 weeks) in the fall or winter terms. This is an unpaid experiential learning opportunity. Our students can: Provide your organization with innovative solutions and fresh perspectives on community-centered challenges. Create surveys for research. Participate in data analysis and collating information. Perform a literature review or needs analysis. Develop community engagement strategies. Assess workplace processes and practices and develop recommendations.
