As vehicles become increasingly reliant on digital systems, ensuring their cybersecurity is paramount. This project invites students to delve into the intricacies of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and explore the principles of authentication, authorization, and privacy. Participants will engage in a comprehensive review of existing cybersecurity artifacts, identify potential vulnerabilities, and assess associated risks. The goal is to develop robust mitigation strategies that enhance the safety and security of connected vehicles. By participating, students will gain practical experience and contribute to the advancement of secure automotive technologies.
The Cybersecurity Implementation – Phase I project aims to enhance the safety and security of connected vehicles by addressing critical issues identified in the Threat and Risk Assessment (TARA) as detailed in ISO/SAE 21434. The expected outcomes and deliverables include:
- Enhanced Understanding of Cybersecurity Impacts: Participants will gain a better understanding of how cybersecurity affects the safe operation of connected vehicles. This knowledge will be crucial in defining ARD-Tech’s cybersecurity concept moving forward.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: The project will involve reviewing ARD-Tech artifacts to validate and assess identified risks. This includes creating a high-level risk mitigation approach for each high-value threat considered.
- Implementation of Security Solutions: Design and develop solution approaches for high-priority threats, including relevant software architecture and design. This will involve mapping out the software solution within the existing platform, utilizing technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes and Eclipse SDV components.
- Compliance with Industry Standards: Ensure compliance with industry-leading best practices and certifications surrounding safety and cybersecurity. This will help ARD-Tech maintain its reputation for quality, safety, and security.
- Hands-On Experience with Cutting-Edge Technologies: Students will have the opportunity to work with technologies such as Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), authentication, authorization, privacy, and cybersecurity principles. This hands-on experience will enhance their technical skills and provide valuable insights into real-world applications.
